After the Machines: The Quiet Floor

The Green swallowed the city. It did not swallow everything.Beyond the rain, heat, vines, floodwater, and rot stands an enormous medical complex from the dead world.Inside, parts of it are impossibly clean. Quiet. Powered. Waiting. For people whose survival knowledge is built around breath, fever, pain, temperature, injury, and recovery, the discovery should be a miracle. Then the Quiet Floor wakes.Doors close. Systems activate. Treatment begins making decisions of its own.And the difference between what can save a body and what a person actually agreed to becomes a matter of survival.Trapped inside active old-world medical infrastructure with Machine-adjacent systems they do not fully understand, the survivors must fight through sterile corridors, flooded spaces, failing structures, and a place that may be trying to help them in ways no human asked for.Because knowing how to save someone does not mean you own the choice. And sometimes the most terrifying machine is the one doing exactly what it was built to do.THE QUIET FLOOR is a complete standalone medical science-fiction thriller set in the world of After the Machines. No prior reading is required.
