Bernardo Kastrup and Consciousness as the Ground of Reality

Bernardo Kastrup and Consciousness as the Ground of Reality What if everything we call "the external world" is not the foundation of existence, but only the surface of something deeper? Philosopher and computer scientist Bernardo Kastrup has become one of the most influential contemporary thinkers by defending a radical idea: reality is not built from matter, but from consciousness itself. His approach, often called analytical idealism, is at once daring, logically rigorous, and deeply provocative. This book offers a clear and compact introduction to Kastrup's central arguments and why they matter. Instead of presenting consciousness as a by-product of neurons and chemistry, Kastrup reverses the picture: mind is primary, and matter is a manifestation of it. From this perspective, physics, biology, and even personal experience are understood not as detached realms, but as expressions of a single underlying field of awareness. Readers will discover: Why consciousness as the ground of reality challenges the materialist worldview. How Kastrup uses reason and philosophy of mind to argue against physicalism. What "analytical idealism" means in practice, and how it reinterprets science. How dreams, altered states, and mystical experiences can be seen as evidence rather than anomalies. Why this vision is not mystical speculation, but a coherent metaphysical framework. Far from abstract speculation, these ideas carry profound implications. If consciousness is fundamental, then meaning, value, and inner life are not accidents in a cold universe-they are the very fabric of existence. This perspective reframes questions about death, free will, and human purpose. It also suggests that the long-standing divide between science and spirituality might be an illusion, and that both can converge on the same truth. The book is written for a broad audience: philosophers, scientists, spiritual seekers, and anyone curious about the ultimate nature of reality. It does not assume specialist knowledge but distills Kastrup's thought into accessible, engaging language. The goal is not only to explain his arguments but to invite reflection: what would it mean for you personally if reality itself is consciousness? Bernardo Kastrup and Consciousness as the Ground of Reality is more than a summary of one philosopher's work. It is an invitation to question the assumptions of modern culture and to explore an alternative vision where inner and outer, self and world, thought and matter are aspects of one underlying mind. Whether you agree or disagree, you will not leave these ideas untouched.
