Die Architektur der Fünfzigerjahre / The Architecture of the 1950s

In the 1950s Berlin was to emerge from the ruins of war into the most modern city in the world. Architectural masterpieces built in the east and the west of the city in those years, and which still testify today to the timeless modernity of that era, include the Telefunken Tower, the Zoopalast and the International cinemas, the House of World Cultures, the Corbusier-Haus, the Café Moskau, the Hansaviertel, the Academy of Art in Weissensee and many more. In brilliant, large-format photographs, Detlef Bluhm presents the highlights of post-war Modernism at their most beautiful – including some interiors that are not accessible to the public.
