Feministische, aktivistische, queere Kunst aus New York / Feminist Activist Queer Art from New York City

From June to December 2027, the exhibition »Feminist Activist Queer Art from New York« will be on view at the Neues Museum in Nuremberg. Lutz Hieber and Gisela Theising examine the field of activist feminist and queer art, which is also gaining increasing social relevance in Europe, from a sociological perspective. They focus on the collectives »Guerilla Girls« and »Women’s Action Coalition«, as well as the queer activism of the groups »fierce pussy« and »DAM!« and demonstrate how these movements from New York are being received in Europe. Another highlight is the individual work of the artists involved in these collectives, as well as the interplay between Queer Abstraction and Post-Punk Feminism.
