Frank Gehry: The Masterpieces

An authoritative compendium on the groundbreaking masterpieces of Frank Gehry, including 204 illustrations and photographs. Frank Gehry's buildings are remarkable and surprising, united by the sense of movement they convey. His projects flow, curve, bend, and crumple in novel and unexpected ways, subverting traditional building norms. In practice for 70 years, Gehry's significant legacy of contemporary architecture spans the globe. In this monograph, Jean-Louis Cohen drew upon his deep familiarity with the architect to present forty spectacular buildings that transformed the cities in which they were built- from Gehry's own home in Santa Monica to the undulating Beekman Tower in New York, from the shining curves of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao to the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. The unclassifiable and groundbreaking architect continually responded with finesse to the challenges of complex programming and building within particularly delicate urban frameworks. Through one-of-a-kind buildings such as the Binoculars Building in Los Angeles and the Dancing House in Prague to the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, Gehry left an indelible mark on the history of architectural design.
