Her Scarred Heart

She hides her scars from everyone. He sees the treasure she has forgotten how to believe in. Kai used to have a life. A job she was good at. Friends who knew her laugh. A boyfriend she thought might one day become forever. Then the generation ship crashed on Tajss, and one terrible moment stole the face she recognized, the future she wanted, and the courage to let anyone look at her. Now she keeps her hair over her scars and her eyes on the floor. Scrub the corridors. Avoid conversation. Eat alone. Sleep alone. Repeat. It is not much of a life, but at least no one has to pretend not to pity her. Then Provyd notices her. Huge, winged, and impossibly gentle, the Zmaj warrior should terrify her. Instead, he offers her a piece of epis to ease the pain in her damaged jaw. He learns how to court a human female one careful gesture at a time. A leaf. A gift. A smile. A candlelit path into the desert. Kai does not understand why he keeps coming back. Provyd does. The moment she fell into his arms, his dragon knew. Kai is his treasure. His mate. The female he would wait an eternity to claim if patience is what she needs. But Kai has spent too long believing her scars make her unlovable, and Provyd cannot simply tell her she is beautiful. He has to help her believe she can be seen. Every quiet moment with him tempts Kai back toward the world she abandoned. Toward laughter. Toward touch. Toward the friends she pushed away because their grief and guilt hurt too much to face. But opening her heart means risking more than rejection. It means stepping out from behind the curtain of her hair and discovering whether she is still brave enough to live. Provyd sees his treasure. Kai has to decide if she can see herself through his eyes. Her Scarred Heart is a steamy alien dragon romance featuring a scarred heroine and a patient protective Zmaj warrior. It has a guaranteed happy for now as the world continues on.
