The quilts range in difficulty so that beginner as well as experienced quilt-makers will be satisfied by the patterns that are offered. As Kaffe Fassett says in the introduction: "For years I've taught workshops on color by having the participants observe the colors in a painting and transfer them to a printout of one of my textile designs. A good painting always needs us to give it more time than we spend on our usual observations of the world. It's like listening to music or a good play, heightened attention rewards us with a more emotional experience. I believe that this book can help quilters access that level of reward."
