ENGLISH DESCRIPTION Winner of the Rómulo Gallegos International Prize The book that inspired Netflix's next big adaptation. Lovesick is the story of a passion interwoven with the history of a country, a war, a family, and several excessive vocations. Emilia Sauri, the protagonist of this disturbing novel, is born into a liberal family and has the good fortune to learn about the world from those who live it with ingenuity, greed, and fortitude. Sheltered by the certainty that courage is nothing without patience, she seeks her destiny by facing the limitations imposed on her gender and the dangers of her love for two men: from childhood for Daniel Cuenca, an elusive adventurer and revolutionary, and in her maturity for Antonio Zavalza, a doctor whose first audacity is to seek peace in the midst of civil war. Governed by the best tradition of costumbrista novels, Lovesick is a book whose clear and fast-paced prose envelops us with its mastery, while gifting us with the delusions of a loving invocation whose excess infects us with future and hope.
