Never to Return

A detective and an FBI agent uncover killer secrets on a remote Oregon ranch in a gripping thriller by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Kendra Elliot. For FBI Special Agent Max Rhodes, the grisly case began with a body baked to leather by the Central Oregon sun. Discovered in an ancient lava flow and wedged between jagged rocks, the victim is a mystery, seemingly dropped from the sky. Detective Noelle Marshall thought she was simply providing backup on a routine neighbor dispute, but when she arrives at the picture-perfect Morning Rise Ranch, she senses something amiss beneath its sunny facade. Next door a hostile rancher with sovereign citizen beliefs stews in resentment, his animosity toward Morning Rise escalating with each passing day. As the two investigations converge, Noelle and Max realize the mummified man is somehow connected to the idyllic ranch, which conceals a deep undercurrent of devotion and control. Now they face not just a murder but a charismatic cult leader who will stop at nothing to protect his flock and bury the past forever.
