C1 ADVANCED SPEAKING TEST The C1 Advanced Speaking test is designed to assess the oral proficiency of candidates at a C1 level (advanced). It comprises four distinct parts, each testing different aspects of spoken English in various contexts: C1 Speaking Part 1 This introductory part involves a conversation between the examiner and the candidates. Candidates are asked personal questions about familiar topics like their hobbies, daily routines, interests, and future plans, requiring more sophisticated language use than at B2 level. C1 Speaking Part 2 In this part, candidates are given three photographs and asked to compare two of them. They need to speak for about a minute, focusing on comparing the pictures and answering a speculative question about them. Then, the other candidate is asked a follow-up question requiring evaluation and opinion. C1 Speaking Part 3 In this part, candidates are presented with written prompts and need to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different options, then negotiate towards a decision together. It tests candidates' ability to engage in sophisticated discussion, express complex opinions, evaluate alternatives, and reach consensus through negotiation. C1 Speaking Part 4 The final part extends the discussion from Part 3 with more abstract and complex topics. The examiner asks candidates questions that require them to express and justify sophisticated opinions, speculate about future trends, and engage in in-depth analysis of complex issues related to the Part 3 topic.
