Tanz auf dem Vulkan / Dancing on the Volcano

In the »Roaring Twenties«, Berlin was the third largest city in the world and the vibrant centre of cultural life in Germany. This coffee-table book undertakes a photographic journey through the lively streets and squares, the variety shows and revues, the department stores and cafés, the fairgrounds and racetracks of the metropolis. Over 240 large-format pictures show that the 1920s were more than just jaunty bobbed hair and quick Charleston steps. »Nie war die Stadt größer, reicher, bunter, glitzernder als damals.« »Never was the city bigger, richer, more colourful or glitzier than in those days.« – Walter Kiaulehn
