When newly widowed Clarice Holmes gathers her family aboard a Mediterranean cruise to celebrate her sixty-fifth birthday, she knows exactly how special it is going to be. Doreen and her husband have taken their dear friend on holiday, but her birthday trip is overshadowed by the ordeal of having to see off a suspected gold-digger. Astrid never expected to find love again but her late husband promised to send someone to look after her. Not that she believes in that sort of nonsense. Until she meets a fellow cruiser onboard who makes her heart flutter in that old familiar way. Shannon is trapped in a marriage she no longer recognises. On this holiday she is forced into close quarters with the man she has never stopped loving and is having to live her heartbreak all over again. Plus she is carrying secrets that could blow the whole Holmes family apart. By the time they return home, life will have changed beyond anything any of them could have imagined. Warm, witty and moving, THE BIRTHDAY GIRLS is an uplifting novel about family, friendship, and the courage to chart a new course when life doesn't go to plan.
