The Consolation of Philosophy

The man who is accompanied by philosophy never dies. This is how philosophy engraved the name of "Boethius" in human memory; for while he was languishing in his prison waiting for the executioner to be ordered to separate the head of wisdom from its body, he wrote for us "The Consolation of Philosophy." His crowning achievement and one of the most important philosophical books that paved the way for Aristotelian philosophy in Western Europe throughout the Middle Ages, it subsequently became the most widely read book after the Bible for the next ten centuries.
