The Dark Secret of a Muslim Woman from Valais

"My Jihad in the Conservative Rhône Valley" is a deeply moving autobiographical account of Rita Kuonen's journey from a strict Catholic upbringing in a remote Swiss village to her secret embrace of Islam. Raised in an authoritarian household where religion was used as a tool of control, Rita recounts the emotional and physical abuse she endured from her family, the relentless bullying at school, and the silence of those who looked away.Through honest reflection, she explores how trauma shaped her faith, identity, and resilience. This powerful memoir is not just about religion-it's about a woman's fight for autonomy, dignity, and inner peace in a society where obedience was demanded and questioning punished.A raw, fearless narrative that confronts abuse, challenges dogma, and ultimately reclaims the power of belief.
