The Friendship Next Door with Delmar

For more than a decade, Julissa and her family have shared a fence line and a friendship with their 85 year old neighbor, Delmar. What started as a simple wave across the yard slowly turned into something much bigger: shared meals, grocery runs, birthday surprises, porch conversations, and countless everyday adventures that stitched two households into one extended family. In The Friendship Next Door with Delmar, readers are invited into a true story filled with warmth, laughter, and tender moments that prove love does not depend on age. Delmar, full of wisdom, humor, and a little bit of mischief, becomes more than just a neighbor. He becomes Grandpa Delmar, a steady presence in Julissa's children's lives and a reminder that family can be chosen. From ordinary afternoons that turn into unforgettable celebrations to quiet talks that leave lasting lessons, this heartwarming story shows how small acts of kindness can grow into life changing bonds. Children will delight in the playful adventures and sweet surprises, while parents will appreciate the deeper message about compassion, inclusion, and caring for those who may otherwise feel alone. At its core, this book celebrates intergenerational friendship and the beauty of opening your heart and home to others. It gently teaches young readers that friendship has no age limit, that neighbors can become family, and that sometimes the greatest gifts are found right next door. Inspired by real life moments that have touched millions, The Friendship Next Door with Delmar is a joyful reminder that love, kindness, and connection can truly change lives.
