The Neighborhood

From Anthony Pellicano—"Hollywood Fixer"—comes his first work of not-so-fictional fiction. The world's most infamous and sought-after private investigator got his start on the streets of South Chicago in the 1960s. After decades as a private eye to dozens of celebrity clients—and a 17-year prison stint to protect their confidences—Anthony Pellicano returns to the spotlight, this time with his first novel, The Neighborhood. This is the story of best friends— brothers really—Paulie and Vincent, who grew up without fathers on Chicago's southside. Paulie learns how to be a man from TV cop shows, while Vincent's role models are the wise guys on street corners. Paulie joins the FBI with hopes to escape his past, while Vincent becomes a private investigator who works for the "family" business. When the two men reconcile, they are torn between devotion to each other and loyalty to their respective organizations. Despite a blood oath that Paulie and Vincent made to their friendship, someone may have to die for it.A gritty glimpse into Chicago's criminal underworld, this novel pulsates with more authenticity than any gangster true crime. If you want to know how things were done—and are still done—on the streets of Chicago, The Neighborhood is the book to read.
