Dentine hypersensitivity (DH) is a common clinical condition experienced with pain which is different from that of any other origin. Dentifrice having an active ingredient is most inexpensive, non-invasive and first lines of treatment. Bioactive glass dentifrice glass compositions are used widely for treatment of DH these days, which works by precipitation of hydroxycarbonate apatite (HCA). This book explains the mechanism, aetiology and treatment modalities of dentine hypersensitivity. Abrasion and abrasivity of bioactive glass toothpastes used for treating DH were looked upon and effects on abrasivity by composition, addition of other agents, size and shape of particles, experimental conditions and techniques used for evaluation of abrasivity are discussed.
