Udhayabanu - Kaanmalar

1001 CE. King Rājarāja Chōḷa has returned to the imperial capital of Thanjāvūr, but peace eludes him. A brazen assasination attempt on his life has left his administration in disbelief. Fragments of evidence point directly towards Chēraman Perumal, the king of Kerala. Was Chēra monarch himself complicit in the plot, or was he merely a pawn in a much deeper conspiracy? A swift military response offers no easy answers. Mahōdayapura, the Chēra capital, stands fortified by land and sea alike - impenetrable, vigilant, and prepared. A surprise attack is impossible. One misstep could plunge the southern kingdoms into chaos. Cornered by uncertainty and constrained by strategy, King Rājarāja must choose his next move with great care. Even as the king weighs war and diplomacy, another game unfolds in the shadows. In Karuvur, Muvendan, Rājarāja's fiercely loyal personal bodyguard-pursues a dangerous trail. What began in the horse-trading grounds of Madurai, with a single fleeing assassin, now leads him into a web far darker than he imagined. Each step brings him closer to a revelation both sinister and explosive. As destinies converge, difficult questions multiply. What path lies before General Maḷapāḍiyar and his steadfast companion Ambalavanar, caught between duty and consequence? What piece of sacred history will Mathura and revered Saint Nambiyāṇdar Nambi discover in their sojourn to Tillai Chidambaram? What unforeseen dangers await Vijayaraja Acharya, as he plans a trip to Kerala with his drama troupe? Building on the momentum of the earlier volumes, Udhayabānu Kānmalar is a masterfully woven political thriller - rich with intrigue, betrayal, and revelation - where seemingly disparate lives and events collide to produce a stunning and unforgettable narrative.Come and immerse yourself in the world of Chōḷa history, where unseen threads from the past tighten around the present; where long forgotten secrets refuse to remain buried.
