Udhayabanu - Karmegam

Early 11th Century CE. Tamiḷ Nādu. Chōḷa capital Thanjāvūr has just witnessed a chilling assassination attempt on emperor Rājarāja Chōḷa's life. While the motive and identity of the assassins are unclear, evidences suggest that the plot might have been hatched from Chēra country - erstwhile Kērala kingdom. Determined to get to the bottom of the affair, the King orders two of his trusted men - a lieutenant from Chōḷa army and a retired soldier - to be sent as emissaries to the Chēra court on a secret mission. As the heroic duo prepare to start their epic journey into the mountainous terrains of Kērala, a mysterious note from lieutenant's doctor friend at Uraiyūr sets in motion a series of unexpected events that provides new leads towards the assassins and their leader. As the investigation proceeds, the duo realize that the affair is much more deep rooted than what was previously thought… it involves three decades years of rivalry and revenge… a complex web of interconnected events and characters… and long forgotten political secrets and treachery. Set in an authentic historic atmosphere that stunningly recreates the magic of ancient Tamiḷ Nādu to its minutest detail, Udhayabānu - Kārmēgam or Dark Clouds is book 1 of a new multi-part historic series that follows up author's earlier historical novels - Rājakēsari and Chērar Kōttai, both of which are available as audiobooks in StoryTel. Come and join narrator Deepika Arun, musicians Abhilash Giriprasad and L.Baba Prasad as they take us through the enchanting depths and breadths of ancient Chōḷa Maṇḍalam…. Hail Chōḷa Nādu!
